We know that the formal legal process can be challenging so we developed our Pathways to Resolution approach at the beginning. It's important that everyone can engage effectively and help find solutions that reach everyone's goals. We know people want problems solved in a timely manner but often do not understand the options available to them so they can make an informed choice about their pathway to their resolution.
We use our expertise to talk to participants about their options and what might work. We talk about why we start with Talk - Meet - Resolve to give everyone involved the opportunity to quickly reach an agreement without the need for a formal decision. We explain that most disputes resolve using this process, but that sometimes disputes cannot be resolved by agreement. We explain that if resolution by agreement is not possible, we will appoint an independent person to listen to both sides, learn about the dispute and understand the different perspectives and then make a decision that is binding everyoen involved. We call this process Listen - Decide.
